The KP360 Academy

As a Medical Writer, joining the ACUMED® team can open up a world of opportunities for ongoing learning and career development thanks to our Writers Academy. ACUMED is focussed on delivering the service excellence our clients expect; our goal is to always exceed expectations not only in the quality of our work, but also in the standard of our delivery.

To meet these objectives, an integrated training and development programme, ‘The Academy’, has been developed to allow managers to plug-in and tailor employees’ training to needs throughout their careers.

Academy organisation

The Academy is organised into three levels as shown below, designed to build knowledge as employees gain experience and progress within the company. Each level comprises self-contained learning modules designed to teach the important skills required to meet the competency requirements for the target audience and grade.

Academy Organisation

The formal Academy programmes are supplemented by ad hoc training and learning opportunities identified during ‘needs assessments’ carried out by line managers and the training department. These take the form of ‘lunch and learn’ sessions, ‘clinical viewpoint’ lectures by thought leaders and experts in particular fields of interest (e.g. new advances in oncology, perspectives in HIV therapy) and specialist bespoke training.

Academy delivery

Academy learning modules are co-ordinated and delivered via our dedicated training department. The training team carries out a yearly assessment of training needs with managers and then develops the training programme for the year using a mixture of in-house expertise, external training professionals and other consultancy services.

Academy assessment

At the end of each training module, attendees are asked to complete feedback forms in order to provide an immediate assessment of the quality of training delivered. Employees themselves are assessed on their understanding of the skills learned through within-course testing and post-course assessment of how well they apply their newly acquired skills in the work place. Employees also have six-monthly performance reviews with their managers designed to objectively assess progress and identify any further training and development needs.
